Members of the Red Hat Society proudly wear their
red hats and
purple outfits for eleven months out of the year, but every Red Hatter over the age of 50 looks forward to their birthday month. To celebrate another wonderful year of life, members have the honor of switching from their traditional attire of red hats and purple dresses to
purple hats and red dresses. This outfit is worn the whole birthday month to celebrate yet another year of anticipated aging. The women preparing for their respected 50th birthday are permitted to wear
pink hats with
lavender outfits. When celebrating their birthday month, they get to wear
lavender hats with pink outfits.
